sleepy time adventures

July 5th, 2009 | Posted by Ryan

well, it didn’t take long. ellie has been sleeping in her crib for about a month now and we had been waiting for when she might start exploring her surroundings some. we put her down the other night and heard her screaming around 4 a.m. she eventually calmed down for the rest of the night and woke around 6 a.m. like usual, but with a twist: she had somehow turned completely around, with her feet where her head would normally be.

we don’t know if she got so angry at 4 a.m. that she twisted all around, but somehow she managed to do it. now we’ll wait for her to be standing up against the railing waiting for us in he morning. i think we’ll have a bit longer to wait for that, but who knows, maybe she’ll surprise us.

baby’s room: progress

October 21st, 2008 | Posted by Bryn

after hearing story after story of crib delivery/arrival/construction mishaps, ryan and i decided early on that we’d like to have ours picked out, purchased and put together as soon as possible. and, as a testament to the accuracy of our shared astrological sign, we can proudly say, “ALL DONE!”

we chose a finely crafted pinehurst lifestyle crib from babi italia, and we bought it a few weeks ago during one of many trips to babies ‘r us. we also bought a matching changing table and set that up in no time, as it didn’t require much assembly. of course we’re most proud of the fact that one mattress, one set of crib bedding and one sunday afternoon later, our little girl officially has her own bed <3

now begins the process of decorating.

i admit i bought the bedding in a rush – i didn’t want to have a crib ready for bedding with no bedding to put it in – so while ryan started the assembly process, i made another trip to babies ‘r us for the extras. i knew i wanted something light to set off the dark finish of the furniture, and i knew i wanted something simple. i didn’t want to go the route of animals, cartoon characters or anything else that would commit us to a theme, so when i saw the six-piece olivia set, i snatched it up.

we’re currently checking out our lighting options and discussing whether or not we should buy a rug to tie everything together. i already bought some wall letters from rosenberry rooms to go over the crib (yes, they spell out her name), and am now entertaining ideas for the wall above the changing table.

this whole nursery process may be expensive, but it sure is fun <3
