two more of our friends are – yep, you guessed it – engaged! flo, one of my favorite party girls from college, and her wonderful boyfriend of three years, brian, got engaged on saturday night while watching fireworks from a coast guard patrol boat on the san francisco bay <3
(i really must make mention of all the guys proposing on holidays this year … matt and eric on valentine’s day weekend, brian on independence day … it’s too cute) :)
aside from the fact that i looooove weddings, i’m really excited to see these two exchange vows because i know the ceremony is going to be uniquely them. flo’s blog is one of my favorites to read (when she has time to write!) as everything she does has some artistic value to it, whether it’s her writing or her design. we’re attempting to plan a couples’ wine tasting in napa come fall and i can’t wait to hear how their wedding plans are going!
i’m sure they haven’t even considered dates or locations at this point – flo’s probably still reeling with happiness from the weekend – but i’m crossing my fingers AND MY TOES (if it’s next year spring or summer) that it doesn’t land on march 6th, march 20th, june 19th or july 3rd … all dates of other weddings we plan to attend!
a big congratulations to flo and brian. check out her blog for the complete proposal story.
love love love love love <3

we’ve had some ups and downs the past week or so. ellie is three months old today, which means she’s going through one craaaazy growth spurt, and growth spurts around here mean lots and lots of eating…

lots of sleeping…

…and loooots and lots of fussiness. but! we’re working together and staying strong and things will settle down soon. in the meantime, ellie is cute as ever (she tolerates baths much better now, btw).

we’ve been quite busy on the weekends, spending lots of time out and about as the spring weather has been fantastic and it’s the perfect excuse to be outdoors. today is easter, of course, so we went to a confirmation celebration for ryan’s uncle bob, who was just confirmed in the catholic church last night. congratulations, uncle bob!
ellie did pretty well, only crying a little bit when she wanted to eat and when she wanted to be transferred to someone else’s arms. everyone thought she looked soooo cute in her easter dress.

and isn’t her flower bow adorable? i ordered a purple one and a pink one the other day from posh petals. i also bought her an adorable pink crochet hat with a big pink flower on it. it’s too big for her head right now, but it will fit her eventually!

that’s all for now. we hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend with family and friends <3

congratulations are in order for four of our closest friends, eric & tessa and matt & alyssa. after this valentine’s day weekend was all said and done, both long-time couples are now … *engaged!*
eric asked tessa during a weekend jaunt to new york city. we’re still waiting to hear the details of how it went down (besides the fact that she said YES!)

matt asked alyssa this morning by taking out an ad in the travel section of the san francisco chronicle, her favorite section of the paper. what a creative and thoughtful way to propose. he wrote a little about it (including pictures of the ad and the ring) on his blog.

i’m so excited to have more weddings to look forward to (i looooooooove weddings), especially the weddings of such good friends <3
marriage has less beauty but more safety than a single life;
it’s full of sorrows and full of joys.
it lies under more burdens,
but it is supported by all the strengths of love,
and those burdens are delightful.
congratulations, guys!
